FONERA Simpl and Verizon DSL

Suggestions and ideas about FON's network and products

FONERA Simpl and Verizon DSL

Postby Luxphilia » Mon Apr 18, 2011 1:56 pm

I'm interested in joining FON but wonder if I can, technically and otherwise. We have Verizon DSL. The DSL phone line comes into the house and goes straight into a wireless router for our home network. This router has several ethernet sockets on the back. Do I just connect the Fonera Simpl to this Verizon wifi router via an ethernet cable? Is that all there is to it? I don't want to have to mess around too much with our home network settings as I've had bad experiences trying to fix problems, etc.

Also, does anyone know if Verizon knows or cares if I've added a Fonera Simpl to my Verizon wifi router? Do they have any sort of policy about this?

Thanks for any help.

Just hook the FON SIMPL's WAN/Internet port to one of the LAN ports on your wireless router and all is fine! :)

I use mine the same way with my provider.

It really is that simple! :-)

I have three connected to my router - they're at different parts of the house to extend my coverage, it'll be better once FON implement a bridge mode into the SIMPL so that you only have a single router serving IP addresses out.
