Hello, I am absolutely interested in the Fon Liberator, since I have got many ntfs hard disk drives that I would like to host on my home network without the need of running a computer all that time.
I wonder if I should order my first Fon router now, the nice looking Fonera, will the Fon Liberator also function as Wi-Fi router or will there be a way to use it as an downloader-only add-on to the fonera Wi-Fi access point?
I am also eager to know if Fon will soon sell 5$ Wi-Max routers, so the Fon community can build total Mobile Wi-Max coverage on the planet in a little time. Is Fon talking with governments about Wi-Max spectrum allocation? Is there any health risk in having everyone host the Wi-Max antennas at home? This would be a great way to take the cell network companies out of business and provide true and free mobile broadband to everyone.
Also, to fight global warming, possibly the Fon Liberator could provide a way to connect several IDE or SATA hard disk drives, and it would automatically power them down when they are not accessed, but the Liberator would always host the disc content listing and as soon as someone on the network wants to access the files, then only at that time it would power on the hard disk drive. I don't know the power consumption of external usb disc drives, but I expect that using a selfpowered usb2 hub, and 4 or 8 external usb hard disk drives running all the time would consume a bit of power and does a bit of noise. So how about the Liberator having SATA and IDE connector as well as SATA power and IDE power cable connextions, which can be duplicated up to for example 8 times, with cheap enclosure add ons which can be purchased depending on the number of drives one wants to have connected on the Liberator.
