Take a look around everyone...obviously this "FON thing" is not working out as there are 20 complaints for every 1 compliment (still have yet to see 1 compliment but I am giving them slack)

Everyone's messages say how the service sucks, routers suck, etc.

So why is everyone still trying to do this? $5 router I guess...

Because those that are happy with FON won't come here, those that are not happy will post over and over how it sucks. It's just the way people are.

Mine ordered 2 weeks ago arrived this morning and has already been online 12 hours with no problem. It is also doing things that were said to be impossible here.

Seems like for every 20 complaints there are 19 clueless posters. But then I exaggerate too :wink:

I posted this to someone else on here with your frame of mind:

I have been doing alot of reading up on FON, on thier website and external sources too... before actually deciding to go ahead and share my wifi.

I agree, in terms of service, there is alot to be desired... customer support is slow. The website text contradicts itself in many places, far too many things cock up. But, this seems like a really new project, and one with great potential. One that I would love to see work!... and needless to say, if people like Google and Skype invest millions in it... you know it's a good thing.

Nothing is born pefect, just like a child... you need to nurcher, teach, invest time in it for it to grow and develop to a stage where it can stand on it's own two feet against the world.

I think adopting the same philosophy here would be healthy :)

ps. the FON homepage says "FON (beta)"

Ahhh, virgins.... I remember when I once looked out upon the great fonverse with innocent eyes. :lol:

But we've been dealing with this unimaginable sh** from fon for months now. For the most part, fon keeps it's mouth shut, but then they spring some new restrictions and embarassing decisions on us. Every scrap and clue we get about the direction they are going shows that we're not part of the decision-making process, our adherance is mandatory, and everyone is expected to keep smiling.

'Scuse me. Right now i'm nurturing a headache. :roll:

This service really does suck. There are just too many technical problems. It's not just "teething problems" but a clear lack of competence and attention to detail on the part of the company.

There's really no excuse to have dead links on the site. It's not that complicated.

I'm sorry that I wasted my money and time.
