Hi

I have FON and a Bush TR2015WIFI Internet radio, the problem I have is regarding the WAP security, I tried all the options in the FON router but it doesn't connect using the WPA key, have done lots of test, even reset the router but still doesn't connect it says that the Key is incorrect, tried also with numbers only 12345678 but the same problem.

I can only get it to work if I use the WEP security but I would prefer to use WPA as is more secure.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks

Yes. This is the most common problem, and the question has been answered many times.

You need to follow the directions posted to access the onboard admin page through the Ethernet jack and change the "WPA/WPA2"+"AES" encryption and cipher to just "WPA"+"TKIP".

HI AustinTX

Thanks for the info, you mention that I should connect with the Ethernet Cable and change to "WPA"+"TKIP"

Can it be done with a wireless connection?

Do you know the link to the instructions if I need to connect with the Ethernet cable. I searched for Ethernet but found 10 pages, had a look at some of them but did not find them.

Thanks in Advance.

Yes, but only if you can connect to the private network. But your problem is that your wifi adapter won't connect to the private network because of the encryption+cipher set by default... and this option cannot be changed through Fon's "User Zone" remote administration.

I don't know the link to the instructions here on the board, but it should still be here somewhere. Too bad the moderator has personally forbidden me to give people URLs to tutorials that are not hosted on Fon's own web pages, or you would allready be up and running.

I noticed just now (i'm sloooooow) that the word fondoo, excuse me "fon do o" without spaces is a nono  , which makes me wonder if FON already tampered their DNS server for websites with alike names.
The line between moderation and censorship is thin indeed.

HI

Thanks very much

I have a laptop that I connect ok to the Fon router.

The problem I have is with the Bush TR2015WIFI wireless Internet radio that should connect to the router to access the Internet so I can listen to stations from all over the world. I tried all the setting in the Fon router for WPA (except WPA2) but the radio does not connect to the router as it gives me an error with the WPA key as been invalid even that I can see is correct, also try something like 1a1a1a1a1a but the same problem.

I do think that La Fonera has some compatibility problems with some wifi as they do not connect correctly with WPA as with my otherPOST with both of them I can connect using WPE.

Does anyone know what the best way to let FON know about it so they can do some testing and do a Firmware upgrade?

Regards

It sounds like you are allready using a short WPA key, and only using characters a-z 0-9 as I would suggest. Did you also configure the La Fonera for "WEP"+"TKIP" as I suggested before? This seems to make it much more compatible, and there is literally no loss of security.

Uh...are you saying that if I type 'fondoo', it will show up censored? I thought they were a FON-friendly ISP, much talked about in blogs and forums...weird.

Ah, while the edit button is not available, check your posts in preview. It also previews disallowed words (refrased: it shows the replacing strings).

Hi supose you meant to say WPA + TKIP, When i select WEP I don't see the option to select TKIP or AES. Yes I did try with WPA and TKIP but no luck.

Strange because I also have a Belkin router that I configure with WPA-PSK and TKIP and works so the problem is only with the FON router.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Refere to this (not dangerous) webpage to get information about all common encryptions to ensure wireless security:

Austin, it looks you are going nuts, such a remark in mid-air
I didn't know you were into these things, although remarks about 2nd Life already hinted in that direction.

A little more tolerance would make the world less dangerous.
I'd like to correct this "and a post could be moved" into "and a post had been erased" what you proved perfectly again in this Thread.
And - No! - I am a moderator, but - Yes! - not in this board.
BTW moderfon, please remember the PN I sent you some days ago to describe the differences between a moderator's job and what you are doing here - so in my opinion perhaps you're also not...?

Regards, Kyros
