General Guidelines & Posting Rules
1. A FON Focus - This forum is a place where FON community members can come to share ideas and experiences around FON, the FON community, WiFi, wireless, and other related interests and innovations. We encourage community members to give help and support to each other, but please keep in mind that this is not meant to be an ‘official’ technical support forum. Forum users looking for official FON Support please access here.
2. Be yourself- To participate in the forum you’ll need register with your personal details and an email address. Nicknames are welcome as long as they correspond to a real person. We suggest you make reference to your weblog or personal page when commenting. Fictional user profiles or anonymous messages are not permitted.
3. Observe Netiquette – Search the site to see if your question has been answered, write clearly and be specific when posting or asking a question, use descriptive titles, avoid the off-topics, mention the source when referencing others ideas, keep all exchanges courteous, civil and kind, etc. Check out the Wikipedia definition for more details on Netiquette.
4. Give back - Don't forget to thank those that help you, and reach out to others in the community by helping to answer questions and sharing your experiences.
5. No offensive material - Posts that are violent, sexual, or offensive in nature, violate community standards, or are inflammatory in nature (or link to sites that are) are not allowed.
6. No illegal Material - Observe all Federal/State/Local laws pertaining to copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and/or insider information.
7. No Advertising - Advertising, self-promotion, spamming, sock puppets, and trolling are not allowed. This includes using the Private Message system.
8. Competitors & competing products - Constructive discussion about competitors and FON products/services is welcome. Do respect the open nature of the forum by giving full disclosure of your relevant affiliations. Discussion of products/services designed to subvert FON’s business model or security is not allowed.
9. Product/Service improvements - Constructive discussion of positive code improvement/additions is welcome. Discussion of exploitive hacking designed to subvert FON’s business model or security is not allowed.
10. Fon reserves the right to remove comments or ban people who do not offer constructive criticism.
11. Rule changes - Rules may be changed based on community feedback or business needs. Updates will be posted here.
In order for this forum to be an enjoyable experience for all members, it is important that everyone observes the above guidelines. FON reserves the right to enforce the above rules in a variety of ways, including your post or thread being deleted, a warning from a site administrator, editor, or moderator, or your immediate ejection from the community. Off-topic or nonsense posts can be deleted. Posts that were answered elsewhere on the site can be deleted, moved, or referenced to the correct page. By accessing, reviewing or posting to the FON Forum, you agree to abide by the above rules and terms.
